It's the day we've all been waiting for. Gamepocalypse! Who knows where we'll be after a weekend full of assassinating, shooting Nazis, throwing hats, and experiencing stranger things. We could leave our houses on Monday after being shut inside our gaming bunkers for three days and find ourselves in a Mad Maxian desert. So let's enjoy these games while we can!
Brian Shea (@BrianPShea) – So. Many. Games. I finally wrapped up Golf Story and only have a couple stages left in Shadow of War post-game that I’d prefer to not leave hanging, but my weekend is likely going to be devoted to playing Super Mario Odyssey, Wolfenstein II, and Assassin’s Creed Origins. Of course, the Overwatch Halloween event is ending soon, and I still have a couple of skins I want to grab before that comes to a close.
Javy Gwaltney (@Hurdyiv) – Debating Nazis with my handy hatchet.
Kyle Hilliard (@KyleMHilliard) – Despite the fact that I have been playing Super Mario Odyssey all week because I am a cool game journalist guy, my weekend still belongs to Mario. I have seen credits roll and played tons of post-game content, but it still feel like there is tons left to see and do. Turns out it’s a huge game. Otherwise, I think I will be getting some Korean barbecue for dinner and cleaning the house. Everyone in the household has been some level of sick all week, so there are a lot of things that have been left neglected.
Leo Vader (@leovader) – I’ll be dipping into Mario of course, but I’m hoping enough of my friends will still be playing Destiny 2 that I can keep a fireteam going on the weekend as well. The PC experience has been phenomenal, to the point where I feel like if Destiny 1 had come out on PC I actually would’ve liked it! Beating our heads against the weekly Nightfall Strike until we beat it last night was my favorite co-op experience since Overcooked.
Joe Juba (@Joejuba) – I have played all of the core Assassin’s Creed games, and I’m keeping that tradition alive this weekend by spending time in Egypt with Origins. Like just about everyone else who owns a Switch, I’ll also be checking out some Super Mario Odyssey. I haven’t played a 3D Mario game in a long time, so I’m looking forward to seeing how the formula has changed.
Dan Tack (@dantack) – A burrata, stracchino, bufala mozzarella cheese plate to get things cooking and then some jidori fried chicken. We do it spicy here though with some serrano peppers and jalapeno. And then I think some fingerling taters on the side with some garlic, bacon, and sea salt infusion.
Ben Hanson (@yozetty) – Hello everybody! This weekend I’ll dive into Super Mario Odyssey, I’m sure I’ll have a great time with it but I don’t think I’m fully embraced for how good that game might be. Other than that, I started South Park last night and might find some more time for that. I loved Stick of Truth so much, but I’m not really feeling the new one yet. I’m still in the stubborn “You should have just stuck with the perfect Paper Mario formula!” Have a good weekend!
Suriel Vazquez (@SurielVazquez) – Caroline. Will you judge me? When I forsake our struggle to elope with him to distant lands, far from the Reich? When I help him find his many moons, his bride, his peace? When I venture to Nessus to find mine in the arms of violence, in a bullet in the skull of a Minotaur? When I curse under my breath as I fall back down to Earth, pick up our fight, and find it crashes against the shores of a computer without warning? When I find myself in an blood-soaked cycle of death, rebirth, and technical support? I hope you can forgive me, Caroline. I hope I can forgive myself.
Keenan McCall (@KEeNanMcCall525) – This weekend, I’m going to hunker down and binge Stranger Things 2. After that, I might go back to The Fractured But Whole or The Evil Within 2 instead of one of the three big new releases, mainly because they’re all good games I’d feel guilty about not finishing.
George Ash (@GeorgeEAsh) – I won’t be playing any of today’s hot new releases this weekend, though I will be dressing up as Ezio from Assassin’s Creed for a party or two. On the video game front, I just started South Park: The Fractured But Whole a few days ago and want to continue playing through it.
Cody Mello-Klein (@Proelectioneer) – The big three. Which one will I choose? Mario seems fun and lighthearted as always. Plus, you can play as a T-rex? That's pretty cool. I'm a history nerd, so Assassin's Creed Origins seems pretty interesting too. But only one of these games lets me shoot Nazis in the face over and over again. I think I'll go with Wolfenstein II this weekend.
